CEAL Common Surveys and Analyses
Common Surveys Heading link
All CEAL programs across the United States conducted a survey of individual beliefs and behaviors regarding COVID-19 vaccination (Common Survey 1 and 2). Our local survey, led by Equal Hope, was developed using core questions from Common Survey 2 and additional topics that were of interest to our partners. Equal Hope CHWs began implementing the survey in December of 2021 across Chicago. In November 2022, Loyola University also began implementing the survey in suburban Cook County. By the end of February 2023, over 850 surveys had been completed. You can find information about the survey implementation and a description of Common Survey 2 participants here. Analyses are ongoing, both locally and nationally, to understand vaccination and research beliefs and how they are associated with structural racism and discrimination.
From January through April 2024, Equal Hope and Loyola University launched Common Survey 3 which has focused on health knowledge, beliefs and behaviors, economic and social factors, experiences of discrimination, screeners for psychosocial health, and substance use disorder. The survey collection focused on the Chicago community areas of South Shore, South Chicago, North Lawndale and South Lawndale and the west suburbs of Maywood, Melrose Park, Cicero, and Berwyn. Analyses to evaluate programs and research areas of interest to our communities are now ongoing.
